Officially designated as the 1st artillery battery, it was known as cobbs battery after its second commander, captain robert cobb. The battery was to see service in the western theatre with the army of tennessee and, later service in the department of the gulf.Battles: shiloh, vicksburg bombardment, baton rouge, hartsville, murfreesboro, jackson siege, chickamauga, chattanooga siege, chattanooga, atlanta, atlanta siege, mobile.A hardee type flag with, unit designation in black stencil on white disc.Battle honors in white paint on blue field. The unit may have been issued with a army of tennessee battleflag in 1864 or alternatively a department of the gulf flag.
