1st tennessee infantry regimentorganised on may 9th 1861at nashville,. Unit saw service in the western theatre. Regiment consolidated with the 27th tennessee infantry regiment, on january 1st 1863. Further consolations in april 1865 with the 4th p.A 6th, 8th, 9th, 16th, 28th, infantry regiments & 24th sharpshooter battalion.Battles: shiloh, corinth, perryville, murfreesboro, tullahoma campaign, chigamauga, chattanooga siege, chattanooga, atlanta campaign, rocky face ridge, resaca, new hope church, zion church, kennesaw mountain, peach tree creek, atlanta siege, jonesboro, carolinas campaign, bentonville. Polk variant battleflag issued to unit in 1862. Unit designation on white streamer (separate). No battle honours blue field, red cross, and, thirteen irregular placed stars. Original flag is held in the tennessee state museum in nashville.
