The 28th also known as the goldstream regiment was formed and sworn into service at philadelphia on june 28th 1861. The regiment would see service in both eastern and, western theatres.Battles: white sulphur springs, 2nd bull run, antietam, chancellorsviile, gettysburg, waulatachie, lookout mountain, mission ridge, ringgold gap, rocky face ridge, dolton, dug gap, resaca, cassville, dallas, new hope church, allatoona, kennesaw mountain, peach tree creek, atlanta, savannah campaign, carolinas campaign, averysboro, bentonville.There are some five flags associated with this unit. The flags shown are made by evans and hassall and issue later in the war period. The national flag bears many battle honours in gold stencil as well as regimental designation. The regimental flag conforms to the pattern associated with the state of pennsylvania. The regimental flag for this pennsylvania unit has a dark blue field with the state seal in the centre of the observe. On the reserve of the regimental flags the national arms. Regimental designations were painted gold and placed in a red scroll under the state seal and national arms.
