2nd (special) louisiana infantry battalionfamously known as the louisiana tigers this unit had brief service in the e army of northern virginia, until broken up as unmanageable on august 21st 1861 after the death of the battalion commander, major rob wheat and, the men being sent to other louisiana units in the armybattles: 1st bull run, shenandoah valley campaign, somerville heights, front royal, middletown, 1st winchester, mount carmel, port republic, seven days battles, gaines mill, white oak swamp, malvern hill, seneca, potomac river.
