Description
17th tennessee infantry regimentunit formed in june 1861 service with army of tennessee and the army of northern virginia. Consolidated with the 23rd tennessee infantry in november 1863 and, sent to the eastern theatre by the purges of general braxton bragg.Battles: shiloh, corinth, munfordville, perryville, chigamauga, chattanooga siege, knoxville siegem pore walthall siege, drewrys bluff 12th may 64, drewrys bluff 16th may 64, petersburg siege, fort harrison, appomattox court house. Hardee type battleflag with unit designation and battle honours, issued to unit prior to the battle of shiloh 6th april 1962. Original flag captured at petersburg june 1864.
